The senior secondary phase of learning begins in Year 10 at Maryborough State High School.
The Year 10 curriculum is designed to prepare all students for a smooth transition into Years 11 and 12. The process assists students to make informed decisions about future learning and career pathways.
Students have the opportunity to choose from a range of subjects which allow them to further enhance their knowledge and skills in disciplines they have previously studied and in which they have an interest.
Every Year 10 student has a Student Education Training Plan (SET plan) to assist with subject selection for their senior phase of learning. The SET Plan is revised for subject changes throughout their senior education.
In Years 11 and 12, we offer a diverse curriculum including; Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) subjects for students wishing to gain entry into various tertiary institutions; the opportunity to study Nationally Recognised Training (NRT) qualifications during school time, and the option of completing a Traineeship or School Based Apprenticeship with one of many local industries and businesses.
A full range of academic subjects are offered in the senior school. Students have a wide selection of subject choices across the following disciplines:
- Health and Physical Education and Health
- The Arts
- Industrial Technology
Curriculum advanced program
